The most common mistake most newcomers to the site make..

"Blimey O' Reilly ! I've just been charged a Kings' Ransom for post and packing, and I've only ordered a bottle of flux and 2 marker pens!!

NOT TRUE!

But the confusion is understandable.

If you read the Terms & Conditions, the postal problem is explained thoroughly, but unfortunately, the majority of customers never read them. I know I don't, - and I WROTE them!

THE PROBLEM

is that the online ordering software just isn't capable of catering for the vastly differing styles of customer orders.. However, the software at Tempsford HQ is - it calculates the precise postage for every order processed - over the counter, over the phone, or, online.

HOW IT REALLY WORKS

Your online orders are vetted by myself, the right honourable Webmaster. All the Nigerian orders for £10,000 are weeded out, and all orders under the minimum £10 in value are addressed. All the valid orders are passed to Tempsford HQ, where they are accurately processed & the postage calculated at that time.

EXAMPLE

Let's say you order 4 rolls of copper foil. p&p per roll is 40p. So we charge £1.60.

If you order 1 kilo of solder, we charge £4.00 pp.

Seems like a big jump in price - but - if you order 25 kilos, the p&p is only £8.95

Anything you order, up to 25 kilos in weight will only cost you £8.95.

Example? 15 large pieces of glass and 10 Kilos of solder - same again - £8.95.

Example? One copy of the book "Contemporary Warm Glass" and a 36 yard roll of copper foil £1.00 + 40p=£1.40. A great bargain by any measure.

EXCEPTIONS

Of course, there are always the "odd ones out". And this time, they're not Welsh. (What went wrong there?)

The Highlands & Islands are subject to a parcel surcharge of £5.00, and a 3 day delivery.

Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, and the Scilly Isles, £5.00 surcharge, and a 3 day delivery.

Same with the Channel Isles, but we don't charge VAT to the CI.

Stalag 17 - No surcharge, but of course, parcels may take a bit longer to reach you, what with the war, and all....
