AN EVOLVING ARCH. ARCHES NATIONAL PARK. UTAH, USA
An Arch in the making? In a rock fin, a cave develops in a particularly weak area of the rock. The cave is enlarged by continuing WEATHERING and EROSION. Eventually the cave enlarges through to the other side of the fin and an arch develops. Or maybe.. .. the roof caves in and there is no arch.
