RIPPLE MARKS ON TILTED ROCKS
Tilted beds of SANDSTONE and MUDROCK show interesting structures
that give clues to their origin. Most visible are the RIPPLE MARKS.
They may have been formed by WIND or moving water but other evidence
suggests the latter. In fact these 300 million year old rocks
formed on the ocean bottom as part of a TURBIDITY FLOW. The ripples
preserved on the surface of the then soft sediments, indicate
the direction and the gentle nature of the flow.
