FOSSILIZED RIPPLE MARKS
Perfectly preserved on this slab of SANDSTONE are a series of
parallel ripple marks. As the rocks contain the fossilized remains
of marine animals we can deduce that these ripples were formed
in shallow sea water by gentle currents. But ripples are also
formed in other AQUATIC ENVIRONMENTS like lakes and rivers, and
by wind blowing fine sand and dust over the earth's surface.
