ERODED ESCARPMENT
An ESCARPMENT is a cliff or bluff that follows the line or OUTCROP of a particular group of rocks or STRATA. Rock particles eroded and weathered from the upper cliff face accumulate at the foot of the cliff as SCREE or TALUS. In this view there are two SLOPE ELEMENTS - an ERODED SLOPE and a DEPOSITIONAL SLOPE. Continued weathering and erosion cause PARALLEL SLOPE RETREAT. This is hot, arid desert - very little available water therefore no obvious vegetation.
