GLACIAL EROSION IN A MOUNTAIN AREA
Irregular ground surfaces with protruding rocks, water-filled
hollows and marshy ground are key ingredients of GLACIATED LANDSCAPES
on the Atlantic fringes of Europe. Now the climate is cool and
wet but tens of thousands of years ago there were GLACIERS and
ICE SHEETS in this area. As the climate warmed and the ice melted
a rock-strewn, irregular surface emerged, of which this image
is typical.
