WEATHERED & ERODED ROCK LAYERS
There are several major layers of rock in this scene. The strongest rocks are SANDSTONES. In between the sandstone layers are weaker, crumbly rocks made of clay. WEATHERING causes pieces and flakes of rock to fall down and form SCREES. Rain water washing down the cliff ERODES rock pieces and carries them further down the slope maybe into a river.
