A THUNDER CLOUD
Thunder clouds are also called Cumulo-Nimbus clouds - meaning Cumulus clouds that give heavy rain.. The weather that these clouds may bring includes RAIN and HAIL, THUNDER and LIGHTENING, violent WIND and in extreme cases, TORNADOES. Warm air rises within the clouds and colder air is sucked in through the base of the cloud. As the warm cools, water droplets CONDENSE and much energy is released. At the top of the cloud, which may be over 30,000' (9,000m) high, water in the rising air will have frozen into ice crystals. These are often blown away from the top of the cloud by high level winds to form an ANVIL top. Can you see this cloud's anvil? (and what is an anvil, anyway?)
